This piece is a collection of curated artwork from a variety of sources and artists. I created it to create a link between common themes that I have found both inspirational and influential. One way to think of it is a collection of mood boards that can be referenced when in need of some creative ideas; a printed Pinterest board, if you will.
I challenged myself to find a common link between the themes through each page, meaning that each spread should influence the next. I accomplished this by cutting a window in each page strategically. Using a strict grid layout, I placed images so they would integrate with those on the pages that came before and after.
I printed the book on matte paper, cut the windows by hand, and perfect bound it so the pages would lay flat with no gutter. There are 24 spreads in total with over a hundred images and a variety of writing styles. While imagery and writing are not my own, I was fully responsible for the design and production of the book.
Windows cut in the pages reveal images on adjacent spreads. This adds an extra dimension to each composition as every page must have both a visual and organizational relationship to the next. Each page and image informs the following content, contextually relating every spread and image in the book.
